This sleek MovieMaker has been in our house for only a few days, and we are already in love with this projector. The clarity and luminosity are stunning, and while it doesn't quite make it to full HD, 480p is still pretty impressive. The plug and play feature makes connecting external devices a breeze - though Mac users should know that the USB drive only accepts PC-formatted drives. If you're going to use the projector for watching DIvX files or viewing other media, I recommend dual partitioning an external drive to work with both systems. Of course, you can always just connect your computer and skip the drive altogether.
We've been watching movies for years on a 15" laptop screen. Suddenly we're staring up at a World Cup game on a screen as big as any in the neighborhood! The brightness and heavy color saturation make for a pleasant viewing experience, even with full mid-day sun streaming into our room. I haven't hooked up the projector to our stereo but I'm not sure that I even need to - the stereo sound from the internal speakers is more than sufficient to fill a room, and the sound has a billowy pulse similar to the effects of a Bose Wave Radio.
Though it's not as powerful as its more expensive cousins, the MovieMaker 55 is a miracle of a product and an investment which we are sure to enjoy for many years. I can't wait for the next movie night! Oh, and did I mention it reads CD+Gs - it's a karaoke machine too!

We use this device to watch "MOVIES UNDER THE STARS" at our lake house. Real easy to use, but real expensive for what you get. I suggest doing some more research on buying aless expensive unit- or wait until the price comes way down.

I was nervous about spending so much money on a projector, but I can honestly say that I am very, very pleased with the MovieMate 55. It is extremely easy to set up, very portable, and projects sound far better than you would expect. I have used this projector both indoors and outdoors. Inside, you can project the image on just about any wall you want...both light colored and dark colored walls work! Outside, it is a dream come true. Last summer my family and I looked forward to "drive-in" night. Weekends we'd be out there beneath the starlight with the movie projected up on the wall of our barn. The image was great (crisp and vibrant) and even outside the sound was terrific.
The noise from the fan is barely audible at the 'theater' setting, which works fine both inside and outside.
This is a great buy, guaranteed to give you hours and hours of entertainment. Electronics Expo shipped it promptly and very carefully so that it wouldn't be damaged in transit.

The projector was bought for use in Tanzania. It was easy to transport in my carry-on luggage as it is so light and compact. It is also very easy to use. Initially, it will be used for health education in rural areas - with the use of a generator or an inverter.

Great purchase. Worked right out of the box and my husband didn't even need the instructions! we use it for the backyard with an inflatable movie screen and the volume is great - didn't even need to hook up extra speakers. Highly recommend, well worth the money.
