Optoma EP727 Multimedia Data Projector September 5, 2010 T. Hanson I purchased this item a couple of years ago and am happy to report that it has workded perfectly since then. It is simple to operate, was among the most inexpensive in its class, projects brightly, and is very portable and compact....and I'm still on the original projection lamp/bulb. I couldn't have asked for a better aid in delivering the visual part of my presentations. Thanks!!
Bulb life FAR below spec, and no HDMI March 13, 2010 Techno reviewer (Danville, CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
We've used this projector regularly for about 6 months, and yesterday the lamp exploded. Yes, a big bang, heard to the end of the block! Our total time of use has been less than 500 hours. On the Optoma website, the lamp warranty is for 90 days. If you ran it continuously for those 90 days, you would not reach the "average" 3000 hour life span that the company claims. I'd say that's misrepresentation. Beware!
And an annoyance: the lack of HDMI input made me hunt hard to find a cable combination that would work with my son's XBox. The TI DLP is great. The rest of the thing, not so much.
Optoma EP727 June 23, 2009 hadi (S. J., CA) For the price Optoma EP727 is a decent projector. The movie mode is not as crisp as I thought it would be. The fact that this is a Data projector not aHome Theater Projector and also I was using a cheap DVD player with composite out may have something to do with it. Can't yet judge this projector until I use an HD or Blu-Ray Media and Player with DVI or S-Video connections (No budget for that at this time). It sure gets very hot though! Just in case, I had an external fan blowing on the unit while playing.
Dated December 16, 2008 Paul A. Gillie (Michigan) Would be nice to have a/v inputs, but this is a good projector with good features. The advent of HDMI is something to keep in mind. It will be curious to see how long this will be compatable with changing technology.
For the record, this projector has been easy to set up and use, and seems to have very nice quality. It is lighweight and very easy to transport. Having an adjustable rear leg would have been nice for uneven surfaces, but this is minor.
Optoma EP727 Burned out lamp under 200 hours September 10, 2008 Mitchell Cohen (MC) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
This Optoma ep727's lamp burned out in under 200 hours. The company won't replace this. Over $300 to replace the lamp. What a poor piece of equipment and a terrible company with horrible customer service. YOU SHOULD NOT BUT THIS PIECE OF JUNK.
