Product Description

The HC1500 DLP projector is a high definition 720P home theater projector that offers Mitsubishi HD projector technologies at an affordable price. You'll see true HD images with 1600 ANSI lumens, 2500:1 contrast, native 720P format display, and quiet operation. It's a very affordable way to turn your home theater room into a virtual stadium, cinema, or studio.

Amazon.com Product Description
Amazon.com Product Description Forget the mere 70 inches of even large flat-panel displays, the HC1500 DLP Projector lets you project a high definition image hundreds of inches large. With its quiet operation and huge, beautiful picture, the HC1500 could make your home cinema the envy of all your neighbors.

The HC1500 is just 6.5 pounds and has 1600 ANSI lumens of brightness and a 2500:1 contrast ratio. View larger. View product details.

The HC1500 can project an image up to 275 inches for a true theater experience.
True HD Images
The HC1500 DLP projector projects video in a native 720p format so you get a highly detailed HD picture that looks crisp even at large sizes. It features Texas Instruments BrilliantColor, which utilizes a seven-segment color wheel and an algorithm that enables brighter mid-tones and more realistic color. The HC1500 also offers 1600 ANSI lumens of brightness and a 2500:1 contrast ratio. Depending on the size of your room, you can project the image from 40 inches to 275 inches diagonal. The HC1500 has a lamp life of 3000 hours in low mode and 2000 hours in bright mode.

Pure Connection From Source to Screen
The HC1500 has HDMI 1.2 and component cable connections to ensure a pure input signal from beginning to end. With 10-bit processing, the information is unsullied and the result is a pure image on the screen.

Be advised that this projector (as with most projectors) does not include a tuner; to watch television, you need to provide a television signal, either through an external tuner or a cable box.

Easy Set Up and Quiet Operation
At just 6.5 pounds, the HC1500 is easy to transport and move around in your home theater room, and it has both vertical and horizontal digital keystone correction that makes it easy to mount on the ceiling or place on a table. The HC1500 operates at a quiet 25dBA that won't distract you while you're enjoying movies or television. A 12-volt Trigger jack allows the projector to control a compatible motorized screen. A remote control with backlit buttons is included.

The HC1500 is backed by a 1-year limited parts and labor warranty, and a 90-days lamp warranty.

What's in the Box
HC1500 projector, AC power cable, RGB cable, RS-232C cable, remote unit with battery, light shade cover, quick start card, user's manual, and safety manual.

2 out of 5 stars Wonderful While It Lasted   February 22, 2010
M. Shackleford (Houston, TX USA)
1 out of 1 found this review helpful

I purchased the Mitsubishi HC1500 in June 2008 after a move into a larger house. Some friends came over, we installed it on the ceiling and put up the screen and were ready for movies in no time at all. Everyone was blown away by the amazing picture this projector threw on the screen whether we were watching sports on cable in HD or a good blu-ray movie. Everything was going great for the first eighteen months of ownership.
Then it happened.
About three months ago, the projector began making a remarkably noticeable whirring noise. It didn't take much research to diagnose the problem as a color wheel noise issue. After a few calls to repair centers and to Mitsubishi, it became apparent the cost to repair this issue would run about $300-400. That's about half of what I paid for the projector! Knowing that I would soon be in need of a new bulb as well, another ~$250, I decided just to live with the noise until the bulb was done and save the $550-650 for my next upgrade.
Before the bulb reached 2,300 hours, the entire thing has quit working altogether. It powers on, but then quickly powers itself down. It has been quite sad watching the slow demise of this once amazing piece of equipment.

5 out of 5 stars Best Projector for the Money hands down!   February 10, 2010
Red Rotney (Central NJ)
You can read all the reviews you want. I absolutely love this projector. You can play this in moderate light and have a nice picture! It's fairly quiet and gives a really detailed picture (even in low light mode works excellent)- you will not be dissappointed. For under a grand you can't go wrong. Myself plus friends and family love coming over to watch an event such as the superbowl or world series. My next choice will be a projector with 1080P output and Mitsu will be my first consideration. If you are looking for a projector for the first time and don't want to spend big bucks - go for this projector HC1500 - oustanding picture!!! A BEST BUY!!!

5 out of 5 stars Worth the $$$   September 29, 2009
TJ in Lkpt IL
I bought this around Thanksgiving
before ..(BCS and NFL) finals, primarily for ME (myself)!
(since no one else thought we should spend that much $$$'s for a big screen projector) SOOOooo, I made it a Christmas gift for US (all)!

I have personally used this (during the last 2 years ) about 60 ( YES!! ... sixty) TOTAL hours; and, have walked in the room and seen everyone ELSE using it, CONSTANTLY.
the 2000 hour bulb warning has been indicating for some time now.
(while we (THEY) are approaching 3000 hours by NOW !)
Bulb still going !!! ($90 - $145 replacement cost . . . SOMEDAY!)

I put this with a reasonable sound system and it has.... BEEN WORTH IT!
The family loves it. I am glad.
Providing this (VALUE); QUALITY at this price.

I will BUY this brand again (1080i ) ... when I save up some $$$$ and find a good reason to replace OR give this one away.

4 out of 5 stars Really nice   July 10, 2009
E. Glickman (Portland, ME USA)
I did a lot of research before buying this, and I was very satisfied with my purchase. Its pretty bright, plays 720p movies and games, and has all of the inputs you could ask for, hdmi, vga, composite, component, svideo. It has a reasonable zoom lense, not that great but better than none, and the focus is fine. It does keystoning some too, but that just makes the picture smaller, so I usually just let it be a little awkward angles and get the bigger picture or reposition the projector.

Be warned - replacement bulbs cost upwards of 300 dollars, the cheapest I found so far was 270 for just the bulb and not the whole bulb housing, and its a high pressure mercury vapor lamp or something, which means it could explode in a cloud of mercury vapor if you don't replace the bulb after the 3000 hours. 3000 sounds like a lot, but that's on the extended life (ie not as bright), regular play is only 2000 and so if you use this like a television, playing games and movies and tv on it all the time, you *will* need to replace the bulb. I'm at 2850 right now (always used the regular), and everything is fine, I've read that usually the bulb will go dim before it dies, so when that happens I'll shell out the 300, but 300 is the cost of a regular tv...

5 out of 5 stars Great projector   May 24, 2009
Priyanka Doctor (india)
Have owned this now for about 2.5 years and love it...
The only issue is (as other reviewers have already alluded to) that if you need to floor/shelf mount it, you will need to at a very low height from the ground. Have placed mine at about 6-10 inches from the ground.. Anyone sitting near the projector is going to feel some heat.. Not much noise. Another issue with this product is that when you remove the shutter over the lens, your focus needs to be adjusted all over again.. Pretty simple to do so, but dont see why Mitsubishi didnt think of this..
As regards quality of image - its great, the blacks could have been darker, but am very happy with it. Brightness is quite good, and degradation precluding viewing occurs only with a lot of ambient light.
